Higher Level BRC Certification

The BRC Technical Standard is a package of requirements to be fulfilled by companies supplying retailer branded food products and covers the following points:

  • adoption of the HACCP principles and guidelines for their practical application,
  • a documented quality management system and
  • guidelines for the control of factory environment standards, products, processes and personnel.

The BRC Technical Standard provides for certification at two levels, for which differing criteria apply:

Foundation Level Certificate:

  1. All criteria must be reasonably met
  2. One non-conformity is determined
  3. The higher-level requirements must be met as far as possible

Higher Level Certification:

  1. All criteria must be met
  2. Recommendations must be met as far as possible, whereby only one non-conformity is determined
